Semillon is a golden-skinned grape used predominantly in the Riverina to create dessert wines or as a great blending partner. Essential to a Riverina winemaker’s repertoire, Semillon can produce both dry and sweet styles. The grape adds weight and richness to varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, (think Sem-Sav), imparting upfront flavours of citrus, mango and pear. Botrytis influenced Semillon is picked in late Autumn, in warm moist conditions, to produce the internationally renowned dessert wines of the region.
